GRIZZLY BEARS OF KNIGHT INLET
KNIGHT INLET, CAMPBELL RIVER |
2 to 7 nights
Departures May to October |
The giant grizzly bear is certainly the unchallenged king of the
Canadian wilderness. They have powerful jaws and an excellent sense of smell and
hearing. Knight Inlet is a 95 mile long fjord only accessible by float plane. In the
spring bears can be seen from boats at the water’s edge. In the summer, these
magnificent creatures can be viewed on the beach or mating and sparring. (The numbers in
the summer are not as great as in the spring and autumn). In the autumn the bears feed on
salmon in the Glendale river and can be seen from viewing platforms 10 metres away.
Your accommodation is at the deluxe, rustic Knight Inlet Lodge, a floating lodge moored in a
sheltered bay next to the Glendale River. The lodge is reached by a scenic float plane
flight from Campbell River over the Strait of Georgia. All rooms have private bathrooms
and there is a lounge and dining area, steam room and outdoor hot tub. You can choose a
stay from 2 to 7 nights at the lodge.
Please note that the lodge is closed between 25 to 31 July inclusive. |
