GRIZZLY BEARS OF SMITH INLET
SMITH INLET, VANCOUVER ISLAND |
2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 nights
Departures from May to October |
 Smith
Inlet attracts a significant number of grizzly bears. During the late summer and early
autumn they are drawn to the many salmon-spawning streams that flow into the lower Seymour River
and there are usually over thirty bears in the vicinity. As they feed on the plentiful
sedges and grasses as well as the high protein barnacles and crabs, these coastal grizzlies are
larger than most inland bears.
Your accommodation is at the Great Bear Lodge, thirty miles from Port Hardy, British
Columbia. It is a fully self-contained floating lodge in an outstanding setting with
beautiful views of the Inlet. Accommodation is in single or double rooms each with their
own washroom and shared shower facilities. Transportation to the lodge is via seaplane. Each day an activity is scheduled between bear-viewing sessions.
These may be an interpretive rainforest hike, sea-kayaking or a cruise along the inlet. |
