DOG SLEDDING SAFARI aND ICEHOTEL

This is a genuine winter experience in Europe’s last untouched wilderness. You will be travelling by the most environmentally friendly means, driving your own dog sled in the company of a knowledgeable wildlife guide. This tour can also be operated as a snowmobile safari.

Itinerary

Day 1
	Fly from UK to Kiruna where you will be met and transferred to the hotel Vinterpalaset for one night on bed and breakfast. In the evening there is an option to take a snowmobile tour to view the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), dinner is included.
Day 2 - Dog sledge tour in a winter landscape
	After breakfast, you will be provided with warm clothing for the duration of your stay and given detailed information about your programme. Your guide will teach you how to handle the dog sled and acquaint you with the dogs. Each person drives their own sled with approximately 3-4 dogs. You will drive out to the wilderness through snow-covered forests and over the awe-inspiring winter landscape. Lunch is prepared out in the wild. The night will be spent in a wilderness cabin in the forest and your guide will prepare dinner for you.
Day 3 - Icehotel visit & reindeer excursion
	After breakfast transfer to the village of Jukkasjärvi to visit the world famous Icehotel, see the ice sculptures and enjoy a drink at the Absolut Icebar. Your final night is booked at the Hotel Vinterpalaset but you can choose to stay at the Ice Hotel in an Ice Room. In the afternoon you will visit the Sámi people to see their culture and traditions and enjoy reindeer sledging. A Sámi reindeer herdsman will be the guide and he will give instruction in how to drive a reindeer with a sledge and lassoing. A light dinner will be served by a crackling open fire in a Lavvo (Sámi tent).
Day 4 - Departure day
	After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to UK.

Departure Dates and Prices

Price is £855 per person sharing twin room for 3 nights. The Ice Hotel is open between 10 December 2008 and 18 April 2009. Single supplement available on request.

Price Includes:
Transfers, accommodation: one night at the Ripan Hotel on bed and breakfast, full board on overnight dog sled safari, final night in Ice Room at Ice Hotel. Supplement for Ice Suite on request.

Flights, gratuities and items of a personal nature.
