| Day 1 |
Fly to Edmonton Airport and stay in an airport hotel for one
night. |
| Day 2 |
Fly to Fort Simpson where you will met on arrival, and gather
with the rest of the group before flying up river to Rabbitkettle Lake |
| Day 3 |
Prepare canoes for the down river trip. |
| Day 4 |
Begin your trip! This portion of the river is a flat
and meandering section allowing the opportunity to learn the necessary skills or to
brush up on old techniques. Mountains and U shaped valleys will dominate the
scenery. |
| Day 5 |
Today you will arrive at Virginia Falls, where you will stay
for two nights. |
| Day 6 |
Spend the day exploring and photographing the Falls, which
stand nearly twice as high as Niagara Falls. There is also the opportunity to take
part in hikes. |
| Day 7 |
Make your final portage around the Falls before continuing
your trail downhill. In the afternoon embark on an exhilarating run through the
Painted Canyon, also known as Fourth Canyon. The final challenge of the day will
be the Figure 8 Rapids (Hell’s Gate) |
| Day 8 |
Today you will enter the Third Canyon, the walls of which
rise 1200m above the river. You may spot caribou, moose or Dall’s sheep |
| Day 9 |
Through the Big Bend and Second Canyon, past Headless Creek
you will find yourself in Deadmen’s Valley. |
| Day 10 |
Deadmen’s Valley. |
| Day 11 |
Today you will paddle through Canada’s deepest river
canyon, First Canyon at a depth of 1300m. Before setting up camp you will stop at Kaus’
Hot Springs for a soak in the 37°C natural springs. |
| Day 12 |
As you negotiate the high meanders you will experience the
river valley opening up to meet the forested flat lands. |
| Day 13 |
Paddling down the voluminous Liard River will take you to
Lindberg’s Landing for showers, a BBQ and an overnight in a cabin. |
| Day 14 |
You will be transferred to Fort Simpson for your flight back
to Edmonton where you will spend the night. |
| Day 15 |
Day at leisure to explore Edmonton before
your flight home. |
| Day 16 |
Arrive in UK. |
