WOLVES AND WILDLIFE IN WINTER

You'll spend unforgettable days traversing the ‘wolf country’ of Prince Albert National Park, a wilderness of almost 4,000 sq. km., by snowshoe, dog sled and vehicle.  Day by day you build a repertoire of experiences in the boreal forest connected with the life of the Grey Wolf, its ecology and environment.  This is the realm of the wolf, moose, otter, fox and elk and others.  With your guides you will search for these elusive boreal creatures.

Stories of the wolf in the boreal will unfold through specially designed interpretive experiences both first-hand on the land and indoors.  Interpretive and dog sledding guides will share their love and in-depth knowledge of the landscape and its rhythms with you.

Itinerary 
Day 1  Fly from UK to Saskatoon where you will spend the night at the Delta Bessborough.
Day 2  Land of the Loon ResortYou will be met and transferred to the Land of the Loon Resort on the edge of Prince Albert National Park.  You will stay in a cabin on the edge of the ice-bound lake.  Each cabin is well furnished with wood fireplaces, hardwood floors and private bathrooms.  Excellent food is served in the main lodge.  You will meet your guides and get acquainted with the dogs.
Day 3 Skiing near the Land of the Loon RanchYou will take your first excursion to Prince Albert National Park for a reconnaissance of several large lakes in search of wolves returning to the lodge for lunch.  In the afternoon you can choose to walk or snowshoe in search of wolf signs and other winter wildlife.  In the evening there will be an interpretive programme on wolf biology, ecology and wildlife photography.  Look out for the Aurora Borealis before turning in for the night.
Day 4  Meet the dog teams, there will be a sled and equipment orientation, then onto the trail in search of wolves.

After lunch there will be a vehicle and snowshoe reconnaissance of different lakes and forest in search of wolves and winter wildlife.  In the evening enjoy sitting by a bonfire on the lake ice, watching for northern lights, and listening to the lake and northern night sounds which could range from wolf, to owls, to coyote.
Day 5 Enjoy a day cross-country skiing, ice-fishing, ice skating.
Day 6  Another excursion in search of wildlife before lunch and departure to Saskatoon for your final night.
Day 7  Enjoy a day at leisure to explore Saskatoon, returning to the airport for your flight to the UK.
Day 8  Arrive in the UK. 

Please note.  If you wish to spend extra nights in Toronto, this can be arranged.
