Floe Edge Adventure in Nunavut
9 nights
Your expedition will depart from Pond Inlet, the gateway hamlet to Sirmilik National Park by dog team for the ice edge. For the next week, weather and ice conditions permitting, you will travel from the base camp by skis to the ice edge and underneath the spectacular cliffs of Bylot Island. Along the way you will spend time observing and photographing this magnificent Arctic landscape. You will sea kayak the open water if conditions permit, and there will be ample opportunity to hike nearby peaks.
Holiday idea
| Day 1 |
Fly north to Pond Inlet from Ottawa. Upon arrival in Pond Inlet you will be transferred to the local hotel accommodation. Group orientation and gear check. Evening spent elaxing and exploring the community. Overnight Pond Inlet, Nunavut. |
| Day 2 |
Weather and ice conditions permitting, you will transfer by ski doo and komatik to the ice edge where you will set up our first base camp. (L /D and camp included). |
| Days 3-8 |
Base camp at (or near) the floe-edge area. Various activities including(conditions permitting) bird viewing, icebergs, floe-edge, Thule site and old whaling station. (B/L /D and camp included). |
| Day 9 |
Return journey to Pond Inlet. (B/L included). |
| Day 10 |
Morning departure from Pond Inlet to Ottawa. |
Meals included: B - Breakfast, L - Lunch, D - Dinner

Price includes the services of two fully qualified expedition guides, all group equipment including sled team with local guide, ground transportation between Pond Inlet and ice edge, skis and kayaks, meals listed in the itinerary from lunch Day 2 to lunch Day 9 Price does not include transportation between Ottawa and Pond Inlet, hotels and meals in Pond Inlet, any extra expenses incurred because of delayed departures of chartered or scheduled aircraft, including accommodation and/or meals needed in Ottawa, Iqaluit and Pond Inlet, Nunavut, gratuities for locals and guides; $15 per guide per day suggested.

Important: Due to unpredictability of weather in the Arctic and the slight chance of the charter or scheduled aircraft being delayed, we strongly urge you to purchase an airline ticket which allows you to change your departure date with minimal penalty. Moreover, we also recommend that you obtain travel insurance to cover you in case you miss your scheduled flight.
