Ecuador’s weather is typically good, but temperatures vary depending on altitude. The Andean highlands can be warm and sunny by day, but regularly drop below freezing at night. The Amazon region remains hot, wet and humid all year round. The Galapagos Islands experience hot, sunny weather with short showers from January to June, with the rest of the year being mainly drier, cooler and overcast.

| Day 1 | Arrive Quito. Quito is 12,000 feet above sea level and set in an Andean valley overlooked by the Pichincha volcano. As the first city to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Quito is renowned for its historical centre, the largest and best preserved in all of the Americas. Stay for 2 nights. |
| Day 2 | Enjoy a morning city tour including the colonial parts of the city. |
| Day 3 | Fly to the Amazon. The Amazon Jungle, the world’s largest remaining rainforest, stretches from eastern Ecuador to the Atlantic Ocean. Within its dense vegetation and hundreds of winding rivers and lagoons an abundance of exotic flora and fauna can be found. Stay for 3 nights. |
| Day 4-5 | Optional excursions include canoe trips, hikes, canopy observation tower, butterfly farm, bird watching and swimming. |
| Day 6 | Fly back to Quito and transfer to Otavalo. Located just two hours from Quito, Otavalo is famous for its colourful and vibrant markets. The array and quality of products for sale is astounding. You can choose to visit Otavalo on a day trip from Quito, or stay in a nearby hacienda and spend some time exploring the surrounding countryside. Stay for 2 nights |
| Day 8 | Take a tour of the Otavalo Market before returning to Quito. Overnight in Quito. |
| Day 9 | Take a scenic train ride to El Boliche. Continue by car to Riobamba along the ‘Avenue of the Volcanoes’ Stay for one night. |
| Day 10 | Take the train to Alausi and continue by coach to Cuenca, stop en route at Ingapirca, major Inca ruins. This beautiful Spanish colonial city is rich in history and architecture and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Small enough to explore by foot this city is renowned for its plazas, churches and handicraft. Stay for 2 nights in Cuenca. |
| Day 12 | Transfer to Guayquil – 1 night. |
| Day 3 | Transfer to the airport or begin a cruise to the Galapagos. |
