Aurora and Hot Springs in Southwest Iceland

4 nights

Iceland offers a wide variety of experiences whatever the season. Summer provides a great choice of activities, such as diving, glacier-skiing, skidoo excursions on Europe’s largest glacier, trips on quad bikes, angling, and mountain biking, kayaking as well as whale watching. Winter is a time of adventure with dog sledding excursions, snowmobiling, ice fishing, northern lights observation and relaxation in the thermal pools and famous Blue Lagoon.

Holiday idea

Day 1 Arrival to Keflavik (Reykjavik) Airport, pick-up and transfer to your hotel - Hotel Northern Light Inn, Flughotel or Hotel Keflavik - for check-in.
Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning transfer to the Blue Lagoon (entrance fee is included). Enjoy all the qualities the Blue Lagoon has to offer!

The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west Iceland. Once there you have many recreational options such as walking in the Blue Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings, bathing in the milky blue-green water, relax in a geothermal steam bath or release the stress from your shoulders under a Blue Lagoon waterfall. For a unique experience indulge yourself with an outdoor massage or one of the spa treatments available there (there is an additional charge for this). On site there is also a fantastic restaurant with a la carte menu and a Blue Lagoon shop, selling skin care products based on a unique blend of Blue Lagoon geothermal seawater active ingredients: minerals, silica, and algae. Midday pick up at the Blue Lagoon by English speaking driver guide and via Reykjavik to the National Park of Thingvellir, the majestic waterfall Gullfoss and the famous Geysir area with erupting hot springs. The tour finishes in Selfoss, where you will check-in to Hotel Selfoss.

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure in Selfoss.

Early evening pick up at Hotel Selfoss and transfer to Radisson Saga or Grand Hotel Reykjavik in Reykjavik.

Dinner at Restaurant Reykjavik in the very centre of the city. A visit to Restaurant Reykjavik is a must during your stay in Iceland - this charming, historic building, dating back to 1863, is extremely popular among the local Icelanders. The famous Ice Bar made of ice from glaciers is located inside the restaurant. Entrance and a drink in the Ice Bar is included in our programme.

Day 4

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure in Reykjavik. We have a wide range of optional excursions available at an additional cost; here are some of our favourites.

Iceland from Below - Available throughout the year, this tour takes you to unique sights of Iceland’s most spectacular lava tube caves and craters. Enter through narrow cave entrances which reveal extraordinary scenery of colours and lava formations. These beautiful, natural phenomena were created when the surface lava hardened and the fluid lava continued to flow in tubes underneath. The caves become wide and high and in many places the floor is quite even. However, the trip can become rather difficult so we recommend you bring good walking shoes or hiking boots which are suitable for uneven lava surfaces. Respect for nature and safety are our main concerns. There are no handrails, lights or any pre-installed tools in or around the caves. We rely completely on the equipment we carry and that people respect our guidelines. This tour is suitable for all who can walk on uneven surfaces and at times, on all four. Prices from £76 per person

Into The Blue - The Silfra fissure is one of Iceland’s best kept secrets. Silfra, which is situated in the heart of Þingvellir, the site of the world’s oldest parliament, is an otherworldly scene. The crystal clear water in the deep fissure gives you a feeling of being weightless as you float down with the lazy current. Frequently rated as one of the world’s top ten dive sites, the Silfra offers up to 100 meters of underwater visibility and is located on top of the separation between Europe and America! After an hour of snorkelling we climb out and head back to the car. Prices from £89 per person

Blue Ice - Here is your chance to visit a glacier and not just any glacier, this trip will take you to the frozen glacial tongue that is Sólheimajökull. It is a magnificent phenomenon, a rugged, raw and ever changing hub of ancient frozen water. Explore the crevasse riddled outlet glacier with its amazing ice formations, sink holes and jagged ridges accompanied by an experienced glacier guide. Along the way you can try your hand at ice climbing. You will be provided with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines. En route back to Reykjavik you will stop at the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall. Prices from £131 per person

Day 5 Breakfast at the hotel. Individual transfer by 'Flybus' to Keflavik Airport. 'Flybus' depart from your hotel - please inform the reception the day before leaving.
