SEA KAYAKING AT ADMIRALTY ISLAND
2 nights/3 days
Departures in July and August
Sea Kayaking at Admiralty IslandWhere else can you take a scenic floatplane trip, kayak into a rainforest wilderness, and see Alaskan brown bears?  Join us for one of the world’s best bear viewing experiences on Admiralty Island, a lush rainforest wilderness with the largest density of brown bears in the world.  In fact, the native Tlingit People call the island Kootznoowoo, the “Fortress of the Bears.”  After landing near the shores of Admiralty, you’ll board kayaks and paddle to the world-famous Stan Price/Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary.  You’ll hike inland to different areas watching for bears, with a chance to see family groups with playful cubs grazing the meadows or fishing the streams.  Our three-day trips afford you ample time to kayak and hike, looking for brown bears, bald eagles, and marine wildlife while based at a comfortable base camp.  We’re the only company to offer overnight trips to the Pack Creek area, and our trips are timed for the absolutely best bear viewing opportunities!
TRIP HIGHLIGHTS
Enjoy one of the best up-close bear viewing experiences in the world—just a scenic floatplane trip from Juneau!  Kayak into a rainforest wilderness, hike to watch for brown bears at play or fishing in the streams—we're the only company to offer this adventure!
Our 3-day camping trips include ample time for kayaking to see marine wildlife and bald eagles (the largest population in the world!)
Itinerary
Day 1 We begin with an early morning orientation meeting in Juneau.  We then head to the airport pond, where we board floatplanes for a scenic flight down the Inside Passage to Admiralty Island, landing next to a secluded beach.  We will set up camp a few miles from the sanctuary.  After lunch and a kayak lesson, we will begin exploring this fascinating wilderness.  You may find time to walk the beach, view the diverse marine and bird life, or just gaze across the inlet to the stunning coastal mountains while your guides cook a fresh and delicious dinner.
Day 2 We rise early and prepare for our visit to the Stan Price Brown Bear Sanctuary at Pack Creek.  Paddling toward the world of the brown bear is a superb way to experience the entire ecosystem.  We will spend a full day watching for bears.  We hope to see several bears, including family groups with playful cubs.  Bears are best viewed at the mouth of Pack Creek, but we may also take the beautiful forest hike to the observation tower on the upper river where bears may be fishing right below us.
Day 3 After another night in our wilderness campsite, we will have a relaxing morning until our floatplane takes us on another beautiful flight over the northern end of Admiralty Island and back to Juneau.  We will arrive in Juneau in early afternoon, and the trip ends with a transfer to your hotel or other destination.

WHALE WATCHING AT POINT ADOLPHUS
2 nights/3 days
Departures in July and August
Whale Watching at Point AdolphusJoin us for this easy but exciting kayaking and camping adventure at Point Adolphus, where underwater land formations and strong tidal currents create Alaska’s most active whale feeding area.  You’ll start with a scenic cruise aboard a charter boat from Gustavus to our deluxe camp at Point Adolphus, then, after a thorough kayak lesson, test your paddling skills in the calm waters. Days are spent kayaking and watching for orcas, sea lions, eagles, sea birds, and humpback whales (we’re one of the few companies to offer the opportunity to see whales up close!), hiking the beaches, or exploring the old-growth rainforest of Chichagof Island.  At night, enjoy sit-down scrumptious dinners, then fall asleep under the canopy of the Tongass National Forest while listening to the blows of whales frolicking just offshore. A charter boat returns you to Gustavus.
Itinerary
Day 1 We will meet in Gustavus for an early morning pre-trip meeting.  We depart from the Gustavus dock, where we board a charter boat for the ride across Icy Strait. Start watching for whales!  We'll unload off the stunning coastline near Point Adolphus on Chichagof Island, in the heart of the Tongass National Forest.
Day 2 We will be based in our wilderness camp for two nights.  During the day we will paddle the coastline of Chichagof Island watching for whales, sea lions, porpoise, orca, and sea birds.  There may be time for beach combing and forest walks.  Our paddling distance will be tailored to the group.
Day 3 We paddle to our pick-up point and board our charter boat back to Gustavus.  We highly recommend our Glacier Bay Extension, the Glacier Bay Escape, which takes you back in time to a land of glaciers.  Begins and ends in Gustavus.
