Overview

Argentina is a vast country with a diversity of climate and landscape, from the ice fields of Patagonia, to the Lake District and its stunning lakes and lush scenery, to the tropical forests around the frenzied and spectacular Iguazú Falls, which fascinate and inspire any visitor.

For a more urban adventure, cosmopolitan cities offer the chance to try to tango and eat some of the world's best steak. Argentina's distinct regions have climates all of their own. Buenos Aires is hot between November and April, and mild in winter. The Lake District in spring and autumn is fresher than in the height of summer. Part of Patagonia's beauty is its unpredictable weather, and you should be prepared to experience four seasons in one day.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 | Buenos Aires

Arrive in Buenos Aires for a two night stay at the Claridge Hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore this amazing city or relax in the hotel.

Day 2 | Buenos Aires

A half-day tour of bustling Buenos Aires has been arranged for today. Known as the “Paris of the south”, Buenos Aires boasts renowned architecture, world-class cuisine, vibrant entertainment, world-class shopping, rich historical sites, and much more.

Overnight at the Claridge Hotel

Day 3 | Iguazu Falls

Fly to Iguazu Falls where you will stay at either the Sheraton or the Hotel Das Cataras Iguazu. Situated on the Argentinian/Brazilian boarder, the Iguazu Falls span almost two miles and are 269 feet high, making them higher than Niagara Falls. On the Argentinian side of the falls you can tour the Iguazu National Park with its jungle trails, bird watching, wildlife, flora and fauna. The best time to see Iguazu Falls is in the spring and autumn. An afternoon tour will take you to the Argentine Falls in the lush rainforest and there will be a short train ride to the falls at Devil’s Gorge.

Overnight at the Hotel Das Cataras.

Day 4 | Iguazu Falls / Yacutinga

See the Brazilian side of the falls this morning, walk the Iguazu River canyon and enjoy the spectacular views of cascades of water. In the afternoon you will travel on the river by jet boat and jeep to Yacutinga Lodge, deep in the Argentine Rainforest, for a two night stay.'

Overnight at Yactuinga Lodge.

Day 5 |  Iguazu Falls / Yacutinga

After breakfast, a short hike will take you to the San Francisco River for wildlife watching from your canoe. In the afternoon and early evening an escorted tour along the observation trails in the ancient jungle that is the Yacutinga Wildlife Private Reserve, will complete your day.

Overnight at Yacutinga Lodge.

Day 6 | Buenos Aires

Leisure time today for bird watching or a walk on the ‘orchid trail’. Transfer to Iguazu Airport for your flight to Buenos Aires and the Claridge Hotel for the night.

Overnight at the Claridge Hotel.

Day 7 | Trelew / Puerto Madryn

Fly to Trelew and take a tour of the Punta Tombo Nature Reserve – a rocky promontory jutting into the Atlantic – to get close to the thousands of docile Magellanic penguins that roost there from September to March. Then you’re off to the Peninsula Valdes Hotel in Puerto Madryn for two nights.

Overnight at the Peninsula Valdes Hotel.

Day 8 | Puerto Madryn

Today you will travel across the Patagonian plateau to the Carlos Ameghino Isthmus where you are likely to see rheas (similar to an ostrich), herds of guanacos (a relative of the llama) and Patagonian hares. Beyond the isthmus is the Valdez Peninsula where, in the bay at Puerto Piramide, Southern right whales gather from May to early December and at Punte Norte you are bound to see herds of elephant seals and sea lions.

Overnight at the Peninsula Valdes Hotel.

Day 9 | Ushuaia

Fly to Ushuaia, the world's southernmost city and two nights at the Hotel Tolkeyen.

Day 10 | Ushuaia / Tierra del Fuego

A half-day tour of Tierra del Fuego National Park is arranged. It’s an awe-inspiring land of rivers, lakes, glaciers and forests. In the afternoon a half day tour to the Beagle Channel is included.

Overnight at the Hotel Tolkeyen.

Day 11 | El Calafate

Fly to El Calafate for two nights at the Sierra Nevada Hosteria. As an alternative, you could opt to stay at the Estancia Helsingfors, a working ranch from which you can discover a taste of true Argentina.

Day 12 | Glaciares National Park

The day will be spent in the Glaciares National Park. On the boundary with Chile lies the eastern side of the continental ice cap from which the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier descends into Lake Argentino forming a barrier two miles long and up to 200 feet (60 metres) high! The sight and sounds of large chunks of ice that regularly crash into the lake below is breath-taking.

Overnight at the Sierra Nevada Hosteria.
