Overview
Explore Grand Teton & Yellowstone National Park’s most awe-inspiring landscapes and diverse wildlife, venturing into the wildest, most untouched corners.
Between May and October, wildlife watching in Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park offers some of North America’s most memorable encounters. In spring and early summer, bears emerge from hibernation, elk and bison calves appear in the valleys, and wolves are often active in the early mornings of Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley. Summer brings abundant sightings of bison herds, pronghorn, moose, bald eagles, and river otters, especially near wetlands and rivers. In Grand Teton National Park, moose are frequently spotted in willow flats, while elk graze beneath the dramatic mountain skyline. By September and October, the elk rut fills the air with bugling calls, bears intensify feeding before winter, and cooler weather makes animals more active throughout the day. Across both parks, dawn and dusk are prime viewing times, when the landscapes glow with golden light and wildlife is at its most active.
